March 23, 2012
Where do I begin? This one has been a while in the making, but
I really wanted to get it right. I think the first thing I have to get into is Slasher Studios. This update is
dedicate to them, their short films and their rapidly growing website, www.slasherstudios.com. I respect their drive and, although they're doing things on a much bigger scale than I, I also share in their "do
it yourself" spirit.
That being said, let's get into it. The big thing this time around
is the new contest. Slasher Studios was cool enough to throw me some promo copies of their shorts and now I'm throwing
them to you. Contest ends April 30th, get your entry in today.
I've just got Short Slasher Reviews this time around. I sat down
with Slasher Studios first two efforts and I am more then glad I did. Teddy and Popularity Killer
are both fun little throwbacks and, in honor of the new editions, I have added WATCH NOW links on all the Short Slasher Reviews
(Well, the ones that are available online anyway).
Keeping things Slasher Studios, I've got two new interviews up.
I got to sit down with Steve Goltz, Director/Writer/Producer, and Kevin Sommerfield, Writer/Producer/Actor, the masterminds
behind Slasher Studios. Both interviews have a few exclusive questions, either about their previous shorts...or their
new one, Anniversary Nightmare. Read both parts to get the whole story.
Other than that, the only other Slasher Studios I've got is a banner
under Slasher Links. I do, however, have a little something extra for the Dollface fans. The Dollface Slays Blooper
reel is up and it's hilarious.
That's it. I'll be back again shortly to announce the winners of
the contest. Until then, keep it real.
January 13, 2012
My first update of 2012 comes with a Happy New Year and a Happy Friday
the 13th. I hope that everyone's holidays were tolerable and I welcome you all back with open, severed arms. Now,
let's get into the update, shall we?
My holiday themed slasher short, Dollface Slays, is done and up under
Short Films in the My Slasher section. My buddy, Brad, star of the short, came home for the holidays and gave me the
kick in the ass I needed to finish the damn thing. I know I missed Christmas, but we just started getting snow in Michigan
so, in my mind, it's still fitting.
I hit a snag as far as putting together my versus short series (DAMN
HIGH SCHOOLERS), but I'm going to try and figure something out. I'd really like to resurrect Hockeyface Stevens,
but I can't just use him without having at least one of the kids involved in the original short in my versus trilogy.
It just wouldn't be right. So, for now it's on the back burner, but I'm prepared to create a whole new killer if that's
what it comes to. I'll keep you posted.
I've got one new Review/Secret up for the late 90's stalker slasher,
The Landlady. Talia Shire is a riot and I recommend that everyone give it a chance, if not for her then for
Jack Coleman (of TV's Heroes). They are both just a blast, and so is the film.
There's also a new one up in the New Blood section. It's called
Smiley and, even though information is limited, it looks like it'll be a slashing good time. I plan on updating
the page as more details surface, but if you want to keep up with it yourself you can follow the film on Facebook.
That's all I've got for this one. I really just wanted to get Dollface
Slays out there. Check it out, it's the best one I've got...so far. Oh, and, as usual, head on over to the Horror
Yearbook Forum and drop a few posts.
November 29, 2011
Yes, the contest winners are posted. A big thanks to everyone that
entered. There will definitely be more contests to come. So keep an eye out.
Nothing quite new with Dollface at the moment. My holiday short,
Dollface Slays, is back in the works. I scrapped the first edit and I'm now taking it in a different direction...it
should be up for the holidays. I've also got a versus short trilogy planned. I'm digging up an old school, local
Michigan slasher. It should be fun, all I need is some snow.
There's a new one up in the New Blood section. I'm pretty excited
because its "Modern 80's Slasher" tag seems like it might actually deliver. It's called The Sleeper and if you
were ever into "Sorority Slashers" you'd be a fool to pass this one up.
I've got one review up and it's a good one. The "Made-for-TV" wonder,
Dark Night of the Scarecrow. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend you do. It's a winner from start
to finish.
In my last update I reviewed a film called Beware. The
director, Jason Daly, was cool enough to send me a screener. This time around...he was cool enough to give me an
interview. Get to know the man behind the warning.
A plug before I go. Check Out Horror Yearbook! We're always
looking for new members, and don't forget that you can get points for posting and get free stuff from the board's Shop.
Peace.
October 28, 2011
It has been a long summer
and, let me tell you, it's nice to finally have this update up. I've had my share of things going on and they are
finally starting to come together. The Dollface feature is my pride and joy and there are only a few scenes left
to do. I couldn't be happier. As an added teaser I've got a ton of stuff up under the My Slasher section.
Check out the Bonus Material, I updated the Dollface Feature Promo, I added a bunch of pictures to Dollface Feature Photos
and there's even a Dollface Feature Sneak Preview. I still have my holiday Dollface short, but sadly it has been caught
in limbo and I feel it might have to be pieced back together again. Maybe this holiday season, Dollface Slays.
The biggest news, next to My Slasher, would definitely be the addition
of Slasher Contests. That's right, the Inaugural Slasher Contest is up and three lucky winners are going to get some
pretty sweet prize packs. Check out the link for more info, but hurry, you've only got until November 24th.
I've got two great reviews up this time around. I take a look at
the newly released Beware and I've got the classic Intruder for your eyes to ogle.
The director of Beware, Jason Daly, was cool enough to hook me up with a screener so I have to give a shout
out to him and the DVD release of his film. Congratulations to everyone involved and to everyone that has seen it...Spread
The Word.
I've got two new films up under the New Blood section, The Lashman and After
Party Massacre. Both films look extremely promising. I also have a major edit on a previous entry. One
By One: Death's Door has been changed to Jack the Reaper because that's what it was renamed
for the DVD release. No big deal, I just switched some things around and added some better pictures. Big
ups to American World Pictures, they're awesome.
I wanted to point out that I have finally decided to part ways with Horrortopia.
I love the board with all my heart, but sadly everyone has moved on. There's no sense in trying to revive the dead...at
least not until they get the radiation right, so I've decided it's time for a change. I frequent another forum
over at Horror Yearbook and have decided to make it my official message board. The owner is cool with it and the message
board is fantastic. Come chat with us.
Last, but certainly not least, I've got three new Links up. VHS
Wasteland is a cool site to get lost in. It's filled with old VHS covers that just tickle the senses, it's nostalgia
at its best. Terror Threads is one of the best places I've found for Horror T-shirts. Oh, and Horror-Scripts squeezed in...the
name says it all. I encourage everyone to browse.
Thanks to all the fans that keep coming back to my humble little slasher
site. This place has been going for five years now and I wouldn't change a thing about its run. Halloween is right
around the corner so I want wish everyone a happy and safe one. Until next time...
July 15, 2011
While in the process of getting my latest Dollface short together I randomly
got five days off from work in a row. An entire weekend off? Yeah, probably my only full weekend free all summer...so
I had to do something. Dollface full-length feature? Hell yeah. Two days and a $400 budget...Bring It On!
I was getting a sweet update together, but due to the circumstances I've
pushed this one through so I could plug the full-length I'm filming tonight and tomorrow. So what started as three reviews has
regressed to one. I've got the overlooked and underrated shocker, Destroyer, up for review. I highly
recommend you check it out.
Otherwise the only other thing I've got up is under My Slasher.
If you check out the Bonus Material section you can view the little Dollface Feature Promo I've got up. Check it out
and get excited because it's going to be awesome.
This update really isn't up to par with the rest of what I normally do,
but right now I'm just trying to rally support. Dollface is the next big thing and this weekend...I'm going to prove
it. Tell your friends, tell your Facebook...the new face of fear is here.
February 11, 2011
Welcome to Don't Look Behind You. The year is now officially 2011
and I know my first update of the new year won't disappoint. I promise.
Now, I am currently in the editing process of my new Dollface short,
but I've run into a soundtrack issue. My buddy Brad, who is in the next short, is taking his sweet time getting
me his band's music and he's in Texas, there's nothing I can do. So instead of the short, I decided to post a little
Behind the Scenes video to hold you over. Check it out.
The review theme this time around is new school. I give you my
views on Midnight Movie and Simon Says, both of which I enjoyed, both of which I also recommend.
As an added bonus this time around I've got two interviews up.
I had the opportunity to sit down with the masterminds behind Fatal Pictures and got the inside scoop on their Independent
film ventures. Read Zach Green and Richard Powell's interviews to get the full story.
Check out the new links I have too. Slasher Index and All About
Slasher Movies are up under Slasher Sites and Terror Hook is up under Horror Sites. All of them are top notch, all you
have to do is give them a chance.
I've been pretty busy the last couple of months, but hopefully I get
even more goodies up for the next update. I've recently rediscovered Ebay and I'm thinking I'm long overdue for a retro
update. Also, keep an eye out for the next Dollface short, Dollface Slays...Coming Soon!
December 10, 2010
Okay, I've got a lot to touch on so I'm going to be as quick and as thorough
as possible. First of all, my new short, Dollface is Watching, is up under the My Slasher section as well
as the blooper reel. Please, check it out.
Also, hit up the New Blood section. American World Pictures
has been super cool about keeping me up to date with their new projects and their latest shouldn't disappoint.
One By One: Death's Door not only sounds like fun, but genre veteran, Tony Todd, is involved so I urge everyone to
give it a glance for future reference.
On the Full Length review slate I've got Nine Lives up for cautionary
readers. Paris Hilton is in it so be warned. I've also got Dave Reda's latest up in the Short review section.
It's for a music video and it's one of the greatest things I've ever seen...in my life. Shout out to the band who provided
the song for the short, Ludo (www.ludorock.com), to Dominic Wong (http://imanstudios.net) for the awesome photos, and to Elftwin Films (www.elftwinfilms.com).
Oh, I almost forgot, the site has a new Facebook so look us up.
Plus, I'm pretty sure the contest below is legit so If you're so inclined, check it out. Enjoy responsibly and have
a great holiday.
November 3, 2010
A lot has gone on around here since my last update. If you didn't
notice I'd like to first point out the lack of adds on the site. In honor of Don't Look Behind You's forth birthday
this past October, I'm officially a paying member of Tripod...moving on up to please the fans.
Next, I'd like to direct you to My Slasher. My first Dollface short, Thanks,
Dollface, is up and ready for your viewing pleasure. If you like it I'd also recommend the blooper reel, it's
a lot of fun. Oh, and if you have time I've entered my short (as well as my zombie short, Bitten) in
a contest on Bigstartv.com. Winner gets $1,000 so any five star ratings are greatly welcomed and appreciated.
On the review/secrets slate this time around are Groupie and
Detention. Both screeners were provided by the good people at American World Pictures. Their link is
up and I urge you to check them out...they're doing a lot of good for us low budget horror fans...and for this site.
I've also got a new flick up under the New Blood section. Beware
offers us something that not many slashers have offered us in the last few years. A killer with an amazingly original
weapon of choice. It looks like it'll be a blast so please support the flick and everyone involved.
That's all I've got this time around. Be sure to check in from
time to time. I'm already planning the next update and I've got another Dollface short in the works. Until next
time...
October 2, 2010
First update of 2010...it's been a while. Let me start off by saying
that, in no way, have I forgotten about this site. I've been working on something for quite some time and things
are finally starting to look up.
You'll notice a new topic in the navigation bar, let me be the first
to introduce My Slasher. His name is Dollface and he is something I've been working toward for a long time.
I plan on making him the star of a series of shorts I'm in the process of putting together exclusively for Don't Look Behind
You. The first short is on it's way, but hopefully the teaser trailer will hold you over until then.
Not much in the way of Reviews/Secrets this time around. In fact,
only one for now. Enjoy my take on Devon's Ghost: Legend of the Bloody Boy.
If you're in the mood for a good story stop by the Slasher Art section.
I've got a new story posted under Slasher Literature called Nameless Encounter. It's a divergance from my I
Can't Stop storyline, but it's equally entertaining (in my opinion).
I also have new film posted under the New Blood section. Check
out Kill Katie Malone, it looks like it'll be a blast, a sort of supernatural vengence kind of flick. Also
check out the distributor of said flick, American World Pictures, under the links section.
Speaking of links, check out Blood Theatre, Hell Horror, and Movie Watch
List too. Seriously, I know they'd appreciate the visit. Also take note of the new Distribution Sites section
as you check out American World Pictures.
A lot of big things coming your way from Don't Look Behind You.
Trust me, I plan on taking this site way more seriously. I'm even planning to upgrade to get rid of the adds
on the site (plus I'm running out of space). Until next time...
May 26, 2009
Alright, I know it's been a while, but I've been working on a big one.
First of all the Slasher Reviews section is a little different. If you select it from the navigation you'll notice that
it has been divided into two different sections, Full Length and Short. Under Full Length reviews I've decided to throw
a few clowns your way. Mr. Jingles and S.I.C.K: Serial Insane Clown Killer are up for your reading
enjoyment.
Under the Short section I've got a review up for This Side of Nightmare.
The review format for short films is a little different, but ultimately still the same. To go with the review, I've
got an interview up with the director, Peter Grendle. He's an awesome guy and you should check it out under Slasher
Interviews.
I've been reformatting some of the pages on the site, but the changes
are pretty slight. The only one I feel I should point out is the addition of film trailers. That's right, I've
been looking high and low for trailers to all the full length films I review. Check out the trailers for some of my
favorite films under the Slasher Secrets section.
Yep, that's the big news as of right now. Stop back soon for more
horrifying updates. Oh, and be sure to stop by some of my friend sights, I know they could always use a few more people
sent their way.
March 22, 2009
Two new Reviews/Secrets are up. I went new age DTV for this update
and decided to throw Evil Remains and Cut Throat at ya'll. Do you think you can handle it?
I've got a new movie up under New Blood. It's called Beg and it
sounds like it'll be a big deal to us slasher fans. The cast includes genre favorites Tony Moran, Tony Todd, Tiffany
Shepis, and Debbie Rochon. Check it out, spread the word.
Got a new link up. www.horrorview.com it's a good one, you won't be disappointed. In my opinon at least.
Still trying to restore Horrortopia to it's former glory. Become
a member, leave a post, drop a comment. Every little bit would help. Only you can prevent forest fires...or something...HORRORTOPIA!
March 10, 2009
Okay, first things first. Reviews and Secrets are up for Blood
Relic and Graduation Day. I was hoping to throw a couple more films into the mix, but I decided to wait
until the next update.
As promised I Can't Stop...Part II is finished and up under
the Slasher Art section. If you can't remember what happened in I Can't Stop, it'll be there for you to refresh
your memory. Personally, I think it's the business.
One more thing. I think I'm to the point where I'm serious about
getting Horrortopia back up and running. If anyone at all has time, stop by the board and drop a post or two.
It would mean your soul...I mean, the world.
January 23, 2009
It's official! Don't Look Behind You's first update of the new
year, and let me tell you there's plenty to go around.
First, let's talk Reviews and Secrets. I got four new films up
for your reading pleasure. First up, I take a look at the backwoods slasher Final Terror. Then, I head
into robot slasher territory with Hardware. If that's not enough there's always Adrienne Barbeau in Open
House. Last, but not least, I take a look at the classic, Pieces.
There's a new Slasher Interview up with Bit Parts director Dave
Reda. I have to mention what a great guy he is and what a pleasure it was interviewing him. He's also working
on a new film that I touch upon in the interview. Check it out.
Don't be afraid to visit my two latest links. Under Horror Sites
I've added www.letsscarejessicatodeath.net a fan site dedicated to the film in the address. Also, under Other Sites I've added the great new site, www.scripttease.tv without a doubt check them out. Oh, I'd also like to add that I've joined another Top 100 site. If you have
the time vote for Don't Look Behind You on Fright Night.
Other than that I've got a new picture up in Images under Slasher Art.
It's a collage based on a "Stalking" pamphlet I found at my local courthouse.
I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for the next update. I don't want
to give too much away, but definitely expect to see a part two to my I Can't Stop story.
June 19, 2008
I found myself sitting in my basement today
reading an e-mail about a new film called Frat House Massacre. To say the least, I was intrigued. The
film sounded like a blast and I thought I should tell those who come to this site about it.
With that said, this update is for the new section I added. It's
called New Blood. It's for all those films that come out that I feel deserve to be seen, especially Indie films.
Check it out. I'll be updating it from time to time, depending on whether or not a film interests me.
What else...? I joined another Top 100 list. Horror Theater
Video was kind enough to invite me to their's so if you get the chance, vote for me.
Other than that I've just been working a lot this summer.
Haven't had a whole lot of time to review. I do have plans though, so don't worry and stay tuned.
